Commercials of the Super Bowl.

Currently the super bowl was on and I had family over to watch it.  Now my wife and I are big football fans along with my Dad and brothers.   My mother, well not as much as matter of fact if football ended forever she would be happy.  On the other hand, when everyone else in the house gets up to get a beer during the commercials, she watches because everyone puts their best foot forward on game day.
We all watch them and laugh but most of the time we just do not remember them.  The companies use the valuable air time to try to make us remember.  This year, I do remember one.  Now as we all know the commercials are there to try to get us to remember their product one way or another and hopefully we buy them.  They use different way to reach our emotions but the one that caught me was the Dodge commercial.  They got to my heart strings by using emotional pictures and tone.  It grab your attention and held it and then at the end they told you about the truck.  It started out as documentary sounding and rolled right into a commercial.
Will I go out and buy a dodge, no but I do remember the commercial. One day I hoping I can write as well as the ad did in bring out the emotions out in my readers.

What is a blog?
The dictionary has its definition of it but what is it to me?   I think of a blog as a way of getting information out to the general public.  Some are good and some are not.  I have reviewed  several different blogs, these aren’t the only ones I have seen or constantly go back to but are useful if you wanting something or looking for something

The first one I looked is the one for WalMart (http://www.checkoutblog.com/).  This is very much a corporate blog.  Its right in your face, here we are, this is what we are about and here are the things we can do for you.  This blog does not paint a very positive picture but I have gone there more times than I would like to admit.  I mostly use it for price matching and looking for that perfect gift for my wife.  It is very handy for such information but dry and not one you want to sit down with and read for hours.  Thou as good as it is it does have some issues and the biggest for me is just the item is on their blog does not mean its in the local store or the price is the same.  So buyers beware.
With all of the good things that Wal-Mart did in theirs, this one stands on the other of the spectrum.  Blogerepreneur (http://www.blogtrepreneur.com/) is nothing but a source of information.  It tells you all about blogs and how they can make you money.  It reminds me of someone selling snake oil promising everything and giving you little.  It was a good source to find different blogs but theirs is corporate all the way.  I did not like it and found it difficult to use.
Now the best for the last.  Using Blogerepreneur blog I did find this personal/professional blog called the the pioneer woman(http://thepioneerwoman.com/).  This is just an all-around blog that goes through the life of the blogger.  It not so personal as only that her family is the only one would want to see it.  She has various topics from cooking, homeschooling, and home and garden and uses them to attract a large audience.   It is well written and conveys the points she is looking for.  The different tone and descriptions she uses in the various topics make you want to continue reading.  I think I will be putting this one on my favorite list, for nothing else for the food she descripts in her recipes.

Intro

Why am I starting this blog?
Well I am returning to school and I am required to take certain classes and English 102 is such one.  The professor requires us to write a blog because he feels that the more we write the better we get.  First let me introduce myself, my name is Dave and I am returning to school after 20 plus years of being out of school.  Friends and family always ask me why, well the answer is a three headed response.  First is my wife is working on her second masters and the kids are in school and when everyone is doing homework and I am sitting watching television, they ask why I am not doing homework and I say I am not in school.  They look at me and ask mommy why do they have to go to school and daddy does not.  Well it’s hard to come up with a real reason.  I want to be a role model for them just like my wife so guess what I did, yep went back to school.  The second reason is no matter how hard you work in business if you want to get ahead you need a piece of paper saying you are trained do the job.  I got tired of getting passed over just because I do not have a degree and watching these idiots with no idea how to do the job get promoted and then having to teach them the job. The third and final reason I am back in school, is for me.  I want to finally finish what I started and get the degree I know I can get.
Now I am back in school along with everyone else in my house hold hoping for good grades and a little quiet.  My kids look at me doing my homework and don’t complain as much while doing theirs and my wife; I think, is just giggling at me when I yell at the computer.  But I know she  is glad I’m doing this  and really is proud of me because of the hell I putting myself through she knows I hate school.
